In 2016, Ted founded Hub Town Tours, which has since delivered top-quality history to thousands of satisfied guests, earning coveted status as a Top Ten Tour of Boston.
"Boston and Mike have so much in common, not only are they easy on the eyes but they can also both blow your mind.”
After BA in American History and Political Science Mike got a MS in P several years of steady travel I became very good at creating itineraries and researching destinations. Not just for taking photos but for exposing myself to new perspectives. This added a layer of stress and uncertainty to what was ideally a relaxing and fulfilling holiday. So it is with likeminded fellow travelers in mind that this tour was built from the ground up. We walk through the touristy spots but the real goal is to help you connect the dots, and walk away with lasting insights into this city and its story.
My aim was to create for Boston the kind of intimate and immersive experience I looked for around the world. Leveraging a background in budget travel, the insights of a 15 year local resident, and the expertise of a range of academic disciplines this tour is not about maximizing dollars for me or minimizing effort from you. Out of the thousands of people who visit Boston every day and the hundreds of tours offered here - hopefully we find eachother - the ambitious and curious few seeking a unique cultural experience.
"What forbids a man from speaking the truth in a laughing way? A joke may be more accurate than a sermon."
What a B.A. in American History and Political Science and an M.S. in Public Policy has taught me is how much more history is than famous stuff that is already over. It is still with us and still happening. Operating in the space between academic specialization and the popular imagination we engage with the ideas, controversies, hilarities, and lasting consequences of America's most formative moment. The old town becomes a vehicle for the creation of new memories and the absorption of timeless legacies.
